Here are some of my daughters (and my) favourite school bags for girls this summer !!
Getting the right school bags for girls can be really important. Going back to school your children are generally either very excited or really nervous. They have had lots of time off, away from their friends and not only that byt they will be in a higher form or maybe even have moved on to High School – so lots of new challenges await them.
My two girls are going back in a few days so we have been looking at new school bags for the last couple of weeks and there are lots to choose from.
Obviously, there is my own Filu Design School Bag http://filudesign.com/product-category/bags/school-bags/ costing £28 or £26 for the smaller version. I initially made one for a friend’s daughter, who had just started High School and she was so happy with it, I made it part of my collection. It is a cross body bag with an adjustable strap and two deep inside pockets as well as a strong zip. It is big enough to have all the necessary – fitting an A4 folder as well as books and if needed even the PE kit – but it will also “mould down” on days where you only have a few things to bring. As it is made in quality oilcloth, it is also great in wet weather – and as with all my lined bags – it has a water proof lining.
Cath Kidston has lots of different school bags for girls, my daughters like the new British bird pattern http://www.cathkidston.com/back-to-school/british-birds-cross-body-bag-1016725 costing £45. Again it is cross body with an adjustable strap, it doesn’t have a zip but a strong magnetic popper fastening. It has an internal pocket and two open pockets on the outside. Again it will fit an A4 folder and is wipe down on the outside.
Another popular shop with my girls is Claire’s. Their preferred school bag this year was an owl backpack http://www.claires.co.uk/owl-backpack/shop/fcp-product/40739 @ £20. It is made of plastic and the straps are adjustable; it also has a smaller outside zipped pocket as well as a pocket on the side for a bottle (although it will have to be small to fit in). Again this school bag is wipe down and will fit an A4 folder and the books.
Eastpak makes good strong school bags for girls and boys. My oldest daughter loved the zebra one http://www.eastpak.com/uk-en/backpacks-c120/padded-pak-rr-zebra-mania-pEK62011K+00+999.html @ £30 for the small Orbit version and £40 for the large one shown here which is probably better for high school. It has well padded straps, a main compartment as well as a zippered front pocket for the small stuff.
Mi-pac has a big selection of school bags for girls and boys too, however probably more for high school than primary school pupil. This dotted version comes in lots of different colours https://www.skatehut.co.uk/bags/backpacks/mi_pac_backpack_all_polka_dot_black_white.htm It can be purchased in lots of retailers and prices seem to vary between £20 and £25, so this is just one of them. This bag is made of water resistant polyester and has a faux suede base; it has adjustable shoulder straps as well as a carry handle, main compartment with a lap-top sleeve and a small zipped front pocked.
My girls love all of the above bags and I have enjoyed the time spent searching and looking for variations of school bags for girls. It has also made the return to school more exiting and left both my daughters feeling much more confident.
Both are now proud owners of a new school bag to start the year!!
